Three Steps to Becoming a Writing Expert

I was asked a question the other day about how I became a writing expert.

So, what does it take to become a writing expert? How do you start as an amateur and become a writing expert?

The question reminds me of the three things that are most important in real estate. If you were to ask a real estate agent what they felt were the three most important aspects of selling a property, they would tell you that those three most important aspects of selling real estate are location, location, and location.

In writing, it’s much the same. If you want to become an expert, the three most important aspects of being a writing expert are writing, writing, and writing.

Writing to Develop the Habit

Probably the most important skill that a writer has to develop is to learn to develop a daily writing habit. I have had a lot of people claim that they have difficulty writing. I think a lot of the problems with writer’s block is in the fact that people haven’t developed the writing habit. I can sit down and write at any time of day or night, but it hasn’t always been like this.
