Planning my day and working my plan has been my mantra for some time now, but sometimes it doesn’t always work out as I planned.

Dodging Bullets

Last year, I kept having situations come up that were beyond my control that thwarted or sabotaged my ability to write here on Medium and get other writing done. Last May, I had a plan to write every day, but then my five-year-old laptop started giving me problems. The keyboard wore out and I got it replaced. It took me a couple of weeks to get it back. When it came back, I was in the middle of farmers’ market season, so I cut back on my writing for a while and focused more on selling my books and selling cookies. Plus I was working on three books that I wanted to finish by this spring. I finished one of them in September and called it The Survival Garden. I have been doing well selling that book both in direct sales and online.

During the month of November, I was writing the first draft of a book during NaNoWriMo. I was ahead of the game when the laptop again malfunctioned. This time the hinge between the screen and the keyboard disintegrated. It took another two weeks to get the thing fixed, but I was able to get that first draft finished on that last day of the month.
