When All Else Fails, Take a Nap

Sometimes it isn’t that you need to work harder

I can remember back before I was three. We had just moved, and the house was filled with boxes and Mom was trying to get everything put away. I was apparently getting in her way and was probably acting a little needy at the time because she put me down for a nap of the couch. I slept.

When I awoke, everything was put away and Mom was preparing dinner. I know now that she couldn’t have finished everything that she had done without me first taking the nap.

A Nap’s Value

For Mom, me taking that nap was valuable to her getting our things unpacked in our new home, but it was equally valuable for me at the time. When I awoke, I was calmer and willing to do whatever Mom said.

Negate the Side-effects of Tiredness

Many negative effects come from being tired. Physical Activity becomes more difficult. I just don’t have the stamina to do what usually takes far less effort when I am rested.

I have difficulty concentrating on tasks. I might also find myself being clumsier than usual. When I find myself getting distracted or dropping things every time I turn around, are not doing me any good. Extra hours of work decrease my ability to focus…
