The problem today seems to be "what is sound counsel"? What is the wisdom in any given situation. Is the wise choice always what the religious leaders tell us or can wisdom come from other sources? Jesus had a lot to say to religious leaders in his day and it wasn't necessarily pleasant.

I think the answer lies in what you said about seeking God's wisdom. The Holy Spirit lives within us to guide us if we would read the word and listen to his counsel to separate truth from myth.
