Never Think Negative Thoughts

There are three ways to look at problems that we face. One is useful but the other two could be disastrous.

Worry about the Problem

First, we can worry about them. What we worry about may or may not happen and often doesn’t. However, worrying will keep us up at night. It can decrease our immune system and increase our blood pressure. Because we’re focused on what could happen, worrying could be what causes that thing we worry about to happen. As it says in the Bible, worrying doesn’t change anything except maybe in the negative sense.

My Dad always worried about everything. It didn’t do him any good. What he worried about happened because he set himself up to fail. He would panic because he didn’t know what to do about the problem, only that he had the problem. His worry didn’t fix the problem, it exacerbated it.

Ignore the Problem

Second, we might just ignore what could happen. This is all about taking the Pollyanna approach. Everything is going to be just fine. There’s no reason to worry. You can’t let any negative thoughts in your head.
