My Five Favorite (and most used) Garden Tools

Yes, my tools are dirty! I use them all the time.

Are you new to gardening? If you look at a gardening catalog or in a lawn and garden store, the variety of tools that you can use to garden can make your head swim. Well, to help cut down on some of the confusion about what you need for your vegetable garden, here are the tools I found to be most useful in the vegetable garden.

Number 5: The Hoe

Doing a vegetable garden would be difficult if it weren’t for the hoe. With a garden hoe you can break up clods to help smooth out rough ground. The garden hoe can also be used to create planting furrows. Just use the edge of the hoe to create a small trench, the smaller the seed, the smaller the trench. This indispensable little tool made the list at number five.

Number 4: The Garden (also called Bow) Rake

The next tool on my favorite’s list is the garden rake. Where the hoe leaves off, the garden rake picks up in that it smooths out the garden bed, so the planting process is simpler. Weeding is also…
