Make Regular Writing a Habit
and make massive progress on your writing projects
Did you know that 85% of people want to write a book, but only 1% of us complete one? Over the past several years, I have heard a lot of people say that they want to write a book, but I knew that few of them ever will.
Besides the people who never write the book they say they want to write, there are those who start a book but never finish. These people are gung-ho for a few days, but then life gets in the way and their book draft ends up gathering dust in a drawer or in a file on their laptop. They haven’t figured out a writing schedule that works for them.
When you first start writing, don’t expect that you can sit down and write all day or even think that you can write four hours, two hours, or even one hour right off the bat. You won’t have the discipline to do that.
Even if you had the opportunity to get away from your regular life, get away to a mountain resort, shut yourself up in a cabin in the woods with your laptop, you would probably waste more time than spend time writing. The reason is that you would not have yet disciplined yourself to write on that level.
I don’t want you to use this as an excuse not to write. Instead, I suggest that you start by simply making writing a habit.
