It got me to thinking about my own addiction to smoking cigarettes. Just before I quit, I realized that it replaced eating so that I could lose weight and join the military. The over-eating had replaced the fact that I sucked my thumb until I was seven or eight which is when I began overeating. I was able to quit smoking because I realized that I needed to understand how to calm myself using other calming techniques. By the way, I quit smoking over 33 years ago.
