I have been starting the night before lately and I have been trying to remember to do the brain dump as well. I am an Atomic Habits kind of person though and I have been getting into the habit of making my bed and then cleaning in the bathroom every morning for about five minutes. I take one paper towel and wipe down the mirror, the sink, and the toilet after brushing my teeth. I am currently working on clearing the stuff from the bathroom counter. Some goes in the trash and some in the drawer, but the bathroom is gradually getting decluttered and cleaner morning by morning.
