I couldn't agree with you more about this. The scripture that has been in my mind lately is Mark 2:17 where Jesus said he came for those who knew they were sinners, not for those who thought they were well.

I also think about the church of Laodicea of Revelation 3. It reminds me so much of the doctrines of modern mega-churches.
