Garlic Powder Made Easy

I have been growing garlic every year since I planted the first bed of this allium in 2019. Last year was the first year that I had more than enough to sell some at our local farmers’ market. I also had enough to include garlic in many of the dishes I produced fresh and in canned sauces that include garlic. This year, I decided to create my own garlic powder.

Part of the reason I decided to make garlic powder has to do with what happened to some of my garlic last year. I had stored them on the counter and many of the bulbs molded. I wasn’t going to let that happen again. I decided to make the most of what garlic I had grown.

Garlic powder is a way that I can guarantee that I have garlic seasoning even if the garlic harvest totally fail in any given year. Because I use the powder in many dishes including garlic toast, having powder will ensure that I have garlic flavor throughout the year.

There’s no way that I think that making garlic powder from scratch is going to save me a lot of money. The time it takes to turn garlic into powder wouldn’t pay even a minimum wage. I do it as a hobby and because I think that garlic powder made of fresh garlic tastes so much better than garlic powder from the grocery story.
