Make everyone in your team a problem solver

My son is a manager at the business where he works. A few weeks ago, he took the week off to get married. On the day of his wedding, someone from work called him to ask a question. He answered it, but he was not happy that his happy day was interrupted.

The next week when he was supposed to go back to work, a Covid test indicated a positive test, so he had to stay home even longer. This prevented him from going home for the holiday. If only the employees who worked under his management had learned how to create their own solutions to their problems.

Stressing Out Over Problems

Sometimes bosses are micromanagers because they are afraid that the work won’t be done correctly. They spend all their time putting out fires rather than teaching their employees to solve the problems themselves. In essence, they don’t teach their employees how to use the fire extinguisher instead they simply teach them where it is so the boss can put it out.

I don’t think my son is one of those people, so when I discovered this method of problem solving, I immediately shared it with him.
