As I was reading this I was remembering when I was a Neuropsychiatric technician in the Navy. While working on a hospital ward, one of our jobs was to do intake interviews with individuals, many of whom were on the schizophrenia or the bipolar spectrum. I remember other techs listening to when I was doing one of these intakes and marveling at how I was able to follow what a young man in his manic phase was saying even though what he was saying was extremely tangential. I wonder now if perhaps the reason I could follow him was because I am creative.
